At OXYENERGY, our focus extends beyond product formulation to the environment and systems in which our products are manufactured.
As part of our ongoing approach to reviewing and improving manufacturing practices, OXYENERGY invited Distinguished Professor Phil Bremer from the University of Otago’s Department of Food Science to conduct an on-site assessment of our Mt Wellington manufacturing facility in Auckland.

Professor Bremer is a Professor in the Department of Food Science at the University of Otago and serves as Chief Scientist of the New Zealand Food Safety Science & Research Centre (NZFSSRC). His areas of expertise include food safety, food microbiology, food processing, hygienic design and sanitation, food quality, and shelf life, supported by extensive experience working alongside the food industry.

The assessment focused specifically on the hygienic design of the manufacturing facility and production equipment, rather than the formulation or efficacy of individual products. Areas reviewed included hygienic zoning, personnel and material flows, air and humidity controls, equipment cleanability, contamination prevention, and cleaning and sanitation processes.

During the assessment, Professor Bremer provided professional observations and recommendations based on the facility and its operating environment. These insights are helping OXYENERGY identify areas where manufacturing systems and processes can be further reviewed and strengthened.

Some actions are already underway, while others remain in the planning, implementation, or verification stages. For OXYENERGY, manufacturing improvement is an ongoing process that requires regular review, practical assessment, and continuous refinement rather than a one-off project.

We believe quality extends beyond ingredients and formulation. It also depends on the manufacturing environment, hygienic zoning, equipment design, cleaning practices, and the many operational details that shape day-to-day production.
By inviting external food science expertise into our manufacturing environment, OXYENERGY continues to review its practices, consider professional recommendations, and progressively strengthen its manufacturing systems.
Quality goes beyond the formula. It is reflected in every detail of manufacturing.
